Every developed and underdeveloped cites / states produce high amount of waste-water. To nullify its effect on the environment, a number of Sewage Treatment Plants have been developed in their infrastructure. In India, the problem of waster water is huge although there are a number of sewage treatment plant.
Here a question arises. If the aforesaid statement is true, then why there is huge problem of untreated waste-water in India?
The answer is simple – Bad Infrastructure and Steep Increase in Population
Bad Infrastructure : Amongst the huge number of sewage treatment plants developed in India, most of them are outdated and in bad conditions. Such plants are not outfitted with modern equipment and hence they are featured with low efficiency. The funding provided by the Indian Government is being misused and there are very few modifications done to improve the infrastructure of existing plants.
Steep Increase in Population : India is the country which is associated with exponential growth in population. This one factor has proven to be enough in nullifying the efforts Govt. of India towards betterment of Sewage Treatment Plants.
I believe that irrespective to these factors, new Sewage Treatment Plants should be designed & developed and the old Waste Water Treatment Plants should be revamped with innovative equipment. The remodeling of old plants will not only enhance its functionality, it will also augment the capacity rate of water-water treatment. If new initiatives undertaken by the govt. are implemented honestly, then this problem can be resolved to a highest extent – making this new era, a cleaner one.
